Does Fred want it?

My thoughts on John Hawkins article, "The Conservative Case for Fred Thompson":

There are a lot of things I like about Fred, but frankly his less than explosive start of his campaign has me questioning whether or not he really wants the job? Because lets be honest, you have to have to really want it if you have a desire to be President of the United States. You have to be willing to take on the enormous amounts of stress that comes as soon as you cross the 50.1% threshold on election night.

Right now I just don't see Fred wanting it. But maybe I'm wrong. He could just be building that momentum that'll take the GOP by storm in the months to come.

Guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

Our Candidates

The following response I wrote to Rich Lowry's column, "A dispiriting GOP '08 race":

This pessimism about our GOP candidates is not something I give into. Yes, all of our candidates have their flaws, but do I really need to go into what is wrong with Hillary, Obama or Edwards? No, their records stand for themselves.

The only reason people feel like our crop of candidates is not good is because right now there is no clear front-runner. Want to know why that is? Because each of the top-tiers has a lot to offer, and the faithful GOP cannot decide whom they like more. In fact, that is kind of the way I feel right now. I like Giuliani because he has a strong record on crime, which will translate into fighting the war on terror. I like Romney because he is good at handling business ventures and that can translate into rebuilding our economy. I like McCain because he has the most knowledge of foreign policy. So I can't decide which way to go because every one of these people has the ability to be President, to say nothing of electability.

So I am satisfied with the crop. The GOP should be too, because we do have a strong field, and one that is much stronger than what the D's have to offer.
